I am passionate about animal welfare, and our pet's quality of life, so, it was only natural for me to turn that passion into my life's work. Welfare Of Our Furry Friends was created in 1998 and I have been working professionally with dogs ever since. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), and a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). I regularly attend courses, seminars and hands-on workshops given by industry experts to continue my education and improve my training skills. My love for animals has led me to volunteer with a number of rescue organizations.
My goal is to set you and your dog up for success! Training includes owner guidance, problem prevention, management tips, support and solutions to teach your dog the skills it needs to function happily and healthily in its world. Methods are clear, easy to understand and apply. The training process matters just as much as the outcome. Training is focused on educating you and your dog, understanding what works for them, and reinforcing good behaviour, rather than punishing mistakes. I use reward based methods such as toys, play, treats and life rewards. All of which makes training fun and very effective!
I do not use any physical force, psychological intimidation, corrections, choke chains, prong or shock collars, shaker cans or squirt guns. Veterinary Behaviourists across the board, advise avoiding using a trainer that talks about wolf behaviour more than dog behaviour, has a focus on dominance and submission, or base their methods on force. They are not meeting the current standard of care in the dog training industry.
